About Powell River

There's a reason they call it the Sunshine Coast. While many other cities on the western Canadian coastline have very cold and wet winters, Powell River has a much more moderate winter climate. Temperatures rarely reach below freezing in the fall and winter months, and there are fewer rainy days here per year than any western BC location. The spring is perfect for weather for planting a garden and the summers are sunny, warm, and breezy.

The natural beauty that surrounds Powell River is astounding. Our many beach trails, Provincial Parks, and campgrounds are well maintained by our dedicated community. If you enjoy outdoor sports, Powell River is the perfect place to be. With more ATV, hiking, biking, running, and walking trails than we can count, the people in this community are very active and enjoy being outside, even on cloudy days.

The salt water and fresh water fishing spots features some of the freshest fish on the planet. Fishing is not reserved for sunny summer days here – it's a year-round activity.
